Date and Time

The Norma box has been named after the designer who created it, a gorgeous 8 sided triangle box which looks modern and functional. How to use card stock, fabric, hand stitching and gluing to construct and finish a unique designer gift.

What you will need:

2mm mount board card stock, enough for nine squares at your chosen size - 7” is a good size to work with. Smaller is not easier!

Wadding in the same amount - low loft is easier to work with *

Fabric for the outer box and the lining. These can be mix and match or all the same. Quilting/dress weight cotton is ideal. About half a metre of each is fine. If you collect fat quarters these work too, but will need one very small join (okay to stitch by hand)

A good quality glue stick ie Pritt or Uhu

Bostik All Purpose Clear Ultra Strong Glue

Rotary cutting equipment, or craft knife for cardboard cutting. Cutting Board. We have cutting boards but you will need your own rotary cutter or blade.

If you have some dolly pegs these are very useful! *

Quilting weight thread (if possible) to match your outer fabric *

A curved needle is very useful, but dont get the huge upholstery ones *

A Thimble

Knob for the lid *

Items marked * are available to buy/borrow from the Tutor

Fabric scissors, pencil, sturdy pins – we have these you can borrow.

Level: novice box makers, fabric/paper crafters!

This is a hand-sewing workshop, no fancy stitches, but you need to be a bit dexterous and confident to cut card, weld a glue stick and get stuck in!

Tutor: Sue Phillips from Suffolk. Sue is a relaxed and very experienced teacher of patchwork, quilting, up-sewing and box making. She holds a C&G adult and further education teaching certificate and loves to get new people addicted to crafting.

Duration: 10 – 4.30pm

Testimonials

Thank you so much for my necklace and earrings. My sons were quite bemused that a vendor knew me by name and your personal touch made us all feel good. So much nicer than the faceless Amazon or even the posh mens clothing stores that I frequented (virtually) over Christmas.

I love the necklace and earrings - you were right they do match and I will share your site with friends

Myself and my daughter came in to choose a pattern to get us back into sewing again. Lizzy was so helpful, talking us through all of the patterns she has and what fabrics would suit the pattern and our skill level. We are so exicited to get started and thats thanks to Lizzy's patience and help in the shop. We can't wait to come on one of your workshops.
